360 degrees views of abandoned buildings in Europe

These are the stunning 360 degree images of Europe’s abandoned buildings that will get your head in a spin. Sven Fennema, 33, captured the incredible shots, which include a forgotten villa and casino in northern Italy and abandoned churches in Poland.

The photographer, from Krefeld, near Dusseldorf, then transformed the stunning landmarks into eye-catching panoramic images. His images also include a panoramic view of a hotel ballroom belonging to an abandoned sanatorium in Germany and an old wintercircus in Belgium.

He said: “360 degree panoramas are dear to my heart because I am able to invite visitors to follow me interactively on one of my trips and to see where my works are created. “It is not possible to show these panoramic views as pictures in the classical way, because an interactive view is impossible.

Tent tourist

A happy camper has shown he has the world at his feet by capturing a series of breath-taking mountain views from his tent. Russian Photographer Oleg Grigoriev, 35, travels with little more than a tent and his camera taking snaps of the mountainous terrain of central Asia and Eastern parts of Europe.

The adventurous lawyer, who lives in Ukraine, started camping in remote mountainous areas in 2007 but only came up with the concept of photographing views from his tent after a memorable trip to the Fann Mountains of Tajikistan. (Caters News)

9/11 commemoration in Washington DC

Americans on Thursday marked the 13th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, as President Barack Obama vowed that the nation would never “give in to fear.”

Somber ceremonies of remembrance were held in New York and Washington, against the backdrop of Obama’s pledge to “destroy” Islamic State fighters in Iraq and Syria — a new front in the war on radical Islam begun in earnest 13 years ago.

"As Americans, we draw strength from you, for your love is the ultimate rebuke to the hatred of those who attacked us that bright, blue morning," Obama said to relatives of victims at the Pentagon — scene of one of the 9/11 strikes. (AFP)

9/11 thirteenth anniversary ceremony for United Airlines Flight 93 in Shanksville

The 40 passengers and crew who died when hijacked United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in southwestern Pennsylvania during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks were to be honored in a new way during the 13th anniversary ceremony at the Flight 93 National Memorial.

A Congressional Gold Medal awarded to those who died at the site of the memorial will be presented Thursday as part of the ceremony. Bells will toll and the names of the victims will be read at 10:03 a.m., the moment the airliner crashed as passengers fought with hijackers for control of the jet.

Thursday’s ceremony also comes as the National Park Service marks progress on a $17 million to $23 million phase of the project that includes a visitors’ center and a learning center, which officials hope will boost the number of annual visitors to the memorial from 300,000 to more than 500,000.
