A top United Nations official who recently visited a Syrian refugee camp returned “deeply disturbed and shaken” by what he saw: displaced Palestinians in desperate need of aid.
"I am deeply disturbed and shaken by what I observed today," Filippo Grandi, commissioner-general for the U.N. Relief and Works Agency, said in a statement after returning from the Yarmouk Camp south of Damascus. “The Palestine refugees with whom I spoke were traumatized by what they have lived through, and many were in evident need of immediate support, particularly food and medical treatment.”
